Ministries and Other Information
St. Thomas has charted a boy scout troop for the past 14 years. When the
ECW hold’s it annual St. Patrick’s Dinner, the boy scouts help us with
bringing trays of food upstairs, serving and helping us clean up, we are so
appreciative.
Our stewardship brochures have summarized the many good ministries and
strong response in pledges. In 2020 our pledges increased by 20% and were
increased by those who were able to in 2021 despite Covid 19.
In January 2021 we celebrated our 10th year of our fellowship café. We serve a
hot meal the last Saturday of every month, which is open to anyone who
needs a meal or is looking for companionship for a few hours. At the end of
each meal we prepare meals to go for those who want them. When we were
able to serve indoors, we usually served 80-100 meals. During the pandemic
we serve hot to go meals and we usually serve about 60 meals.
We received a creation grant for holy walks and labyrinth walks. There are
also benches along side the labyrinth for those who just want to sit and be
quiet or to pray. This is open to everyone in the wider community.
When we were first told we could not have in person services we went to
zoom services. Now that we are able to be back for in person service on
Sunday, we have taken every precaution. Masks are worn, when going up for
communion you can either wear a glove or the usher comes down the aisle
and uses soap on the hands of those receiving.
We have added the addition of Daily Office worship services including
compline.
In October of 2020, we applied for and received a media grant. Our services
are now on zoom, facebook and live streamed. We have been able to
reconnect with those who are not comfortable doing in person service as well
as former parishioners who have moved away or are looking to reconnect
with St. Thomas
